Christmas Eve

Although there is a growing desire to celebrate Christmas here it is not as big as in the west - yet! However they do have a lovely tradition especially among students , of giving apples wrapped in cellophane and bows. Mick and I received lots of them as you see here and jolly good they were too.





Yu Ling and Kang came for supper and, completely out of character Yu Ling, bought Pizza Hut Pizza because she knows that Mick loves Pizza and is looking forward to it when he gets home. We made a great green salad to accompany it and garlic bread and Kang brought the most wonderful bottle of red Cabernet Vintage 1992 wine. We were eating in style and it was enjoyed by both Chinese and Canadian revelers.


We then headed off to the nearby Orthodox Christian church and squeezed our way through the crowds to join in the carol service and listen to a very energetic (and long) sermon in Chinese about Peace which put us in the right Christmas spirit.


We toasted all our friends who live in far flung places and thought of you all as you slumbered in your beds dreaming of sugar plum fairies..........
