Real Chinese meal

Yu Ling invited us to her apartment for a lovely luncheon and to see how to prepare Chinese fare. Her apt is larger than we could get in Vancouver for $400,000.00, and much as we would expect in any Western apt. She has wood floors throughout.
There is a living room dining room, a large bedroom with closets, a guest room, bathroom with toilet, hand basin and shower, and a galley kitchen with 2 burner gas rings, extractor fan, running hot water and fridge. She has heater and air conditioners in every room and a lovely flat screen TV and DVD plus most of the furniture a young person would have.

She cooked us the loveliest meal consisting of a snakehead fish in tomatoe sauce, ginger and Chinese onion: Korean pickled cabbage soup with tofu and mushroom: Cubed chicken with Sechuan peppers, peanuts garlic and lettuce root (A Sechuan dish but she toned it down for us who do not appreciate really spicy food) and a mayonnaise salad of cucumber, tomatoes and potatoes followed by the daintiest tasty little cherries. All washed down with beer for Mick but coconut juice for me. A great learning experience. Now to see if I can replicate it on our one burner with 1 sq ft of counter space!!!
